This Mesmer uses Power Block to disrupt and disable key skills.


  • Seen commonly in all types of team compositions. Generally interchangeable with Energy Surge mesmers.

  • Wastrel's Demise Wastrel's Demise as a wastrel's cancel, stride break or with a Lightning Surge elementalist or in dual domination magic setups. Use a rune of major domination magic.

  • Cry of Frustration Cry of Frustration over Complicate.
  • Rend Enchantments Rend Enchantments over Drain Enchantment.
  • Resurrection Signet Resurrection Signet over Death Pact Signet (PvP).


Runes and insignia


  • 40/40 domination magic.
  • 40/40 inspiration magic.
  • High energy sets domination magic.
  • Spear of defense, 10%hrt with
    • Strength shield of fortitude, -20% cripple duration.
    • Strength shields of fortitude, +10 armor against each damage type.


  • Reduce fast casting to 8+1, increase a shield attribute to 7.
  • Use 15/7 shields for the appropriate attribute.
  • Use Resurrection Signet.


  • Power Block foes depending on what the situation calls for.
    • Disable an elementalist when your team needs the defense.
    • Disable a monk when your team tries to score a kill or is not currently under pressure.
  • Complicate skills defensively, preferably Apply Poison. When applicable, use it to take out resurrection skills.
  • Assist spikes.
    • Hex monks in advance with Diversion or Shame.
    • Use Shatter Enchantment to remove Spirit Bond (PvP) before or during a spike.
  • Help your frontline dealing pressure by removing Guardian with Drain Enchantment.


  • Lack of casters to lineback.
