Green thumbs up.png

This build is provisionally vetted good pending more votes.

This build has received a provisional rating in the range from 3.75 to < 4.75 and thus qualifies for the lower category of working builds: Good.

This build has been designed for the following use:

This build can be used in many solo farming areas and does not rely on healing prayers at all. This build can take on any number of monsters as you like without worrying about your health dropping below 55 health. Shield of Absorption reduces damage by 5, and this build has a maximum health of 55. With Protective Spirit, this means that every attack against you will do zero damage. This build will work with Death Penalty and with 1 health (unlike previous Invincible Monk builds). This means that you can tank as many monsters as you want, similar to the old Spirit Bond monk. See the Invincible Monk article for more information on both of these kinds of builds.

Optionals:

  • Ray of Judgment Ray of Judgment is a fine elite for nuking if you're for some reason farming in Normal Mode, but not recommended for Hard Mode because it makes the mobs scatter and you'll never kill anything.
  • Balthazar's Spirit Balthazar's Spirit can be replaced by Essence Bond Essence Bond as they are the same in the context of this build.
  • Healing Breeze Healing Breeze is useful when killing foes that cause -4 (or greater) health degeneration. As long as the degen doesn't go above -5, HB can replace Feel No Pain Feel No Pain on the bar. If the degen is higher, you'll need both.
  • You may want to ensure survival by using Shielding Hands Shielding Hands. Cast it before SoA wears off to stay invulnerable. (Must have when farming Mountain Trolls outside of Droknar's Forge, or you'll die due to large mobs.)

Any

  • "I Am Unstoppable!" "I Am Unstoppable!" - anti-kd.

Mesmer

  • Arcane Echo Arcane Echo - for longer use of Shield of Judgment
  • Mantra of Resolve Mantra of Resolve - to prevent interruptions (but not knockdowns)
  • Channeling Channeling - for more energy management

Ranger

  • Brambles Brambles - for more damage from Shield of Judgment
  • Serpent's Quickness Serpent's Quickness for quicker recharge time on all skills cast while it is active

Dervish

  • Fleeting Stability Fleeting Stability - to prevent knockdown
  • Mystic Regeneration Mystic Regeneration - for farming those (extremely rare) mobs that are both large enough to warrant using Shield of Absorption and cause large health degeneration. Before using it, consider whether the mob is worth the headache to farm.

Elementalist

  • Glyph of Swiftness Glyph of Swiftness - Cast before SoJ to minimise downtime.

Equipment

Armor

  • Any armor (even starter gear) with a +1 Protection Prayers headpiece will do.
  • Radiant insignias and +3 attribute runes on every piece of armor.
    • Remember to add a duplicate rune of Protection, Healing, Smiting, or Divine Favor, to bring your health all the way down to 55. You don't get the additional bonus since the runes don't stack, but the -75 health does.

Weapons

Usage

  • Apply Blessed Aura Blessed Aura and Balthazar's Spirit Balthazar's Spirit right as you zone in.
    • Optional: casting Blessed Aura with a Divine Favor +1 (stacking) headpiece and/or a Divine Favor Staff of Mastery can increase the effectiveness of this enchant. Getting the Staff proc may take multiple casts, if you have the patience. Be sure to switch back to the correct equipment once the enchant is up.
  • Before pulling cast Protective Spirit Protective Spirit and Shield of Absorption Shield of Absorption. (You should do this no more than two seconds before you do the next step, and the order is very important). Maintain these enchants until the end of combat.
  • Aggro your enemies. You must keep up Shield of Absorption (near-)continuously. Depending on how high your Divine Favor attribute was when you cast Blessed Aura, you can have as little as .5 seconds to recast it - or you may have as many as 1.85 seconds. Note that if you miss a recast by a few seconds, the health regeneration from Watchful Spirit combined with the damage reduction from Protective Spirit will help prevent death, but don't take your time about recasting it. (Be aware that larger mobs mean faster death in this situation.)
  • Use Shield of Judgment Shield of Judgment for damage. Your enemies should kill themselves by attacking you.

Farming Areas

Undead Rangers outside Bergen Hot Springs

Recommended skills: Healing Breeze Healing Breeze, Smite Condition Smite Condition

  • Apply your enchants then pull the group north of the outpost.
  • Maintain all your regen, you'll need it.
  • The Rangers are the easiest to farm and should die in one Shield of Judgment Shield of Judgment.
  • Use Smite Condition Smite Condition on CD (in melee range).

Undead in Gates of Kryta

Recommended skills: Healing Breeze Healing Breeze, Smite Condition Smite Condition

  • Follow the road. The first chance you get, turn left and go towards the house. There is a hidden passage behind it.
    • A speed boost hero can be quite useful, but flag them to the road before turning left.
  • You'll see a Hellhound. Apply all your enchants except Healing Breeze (HB) before pulling it. After taking aggro, run back up a little.
  • Once the Hellhound is dead, dozens of undead will appear and go for you - from this point maintain HB permanently.
  • Use Smite Condition Smite Condition on CD.

Stalking Nephilas outside Sunspear Great Hall

Recommended skills: Brambles Brambles

  • Regen won't be needed.
  • Very simple farm, just go south and aggro the mobs (avoid the nearby Ibogas).
  • Shield of Judgment Shield of Judgment -> Brambles Brambles.

Hulking Stone Elementals in Old Ascalon

Recommended skills: Drunken Master Drunken Master (or any other mobility skill), Glyph of Swiftness Glyph of Swiftness

  • Start from Sardelac Sanitarium and go north.
  • This is one of the easiest farms in the game, so just follow the general usage.
  • Use Glyph of Swiftness Glyph of Swiftness before your elite for near-permanent upkeep.
  • Use running skills between packs.

Jade Brotherhood Knights outside The Marketplace

Recommended skills: Brambles Brambles, Serpent's Quickness Serpent's Quickness

  • Remove 1 rank of Divine Favor and add it to Wilderness Survival.
    • Optional: equip a Divine Favor +1 scalp just for casting Blessed Aura.
  • Place Brambles Brambles somewhere near the gate in a way that you'll be in range of it, but the scattering mobs won't kill it. Unlike usual, Brambles must be palced away from you because the knights have AoE which kills the spirit.
  • Pull 2 groups, maintain your enchants, and cast Serpent's Quickness Serpent's Quickness right before your elite.

Mountain Trolls in Talus Chute (NM)

Recommended skills: Mantra of Resolve Mantra of Resolve

  • Start from Droknar's Forge and head west.
  • Take a speed boost hero with you. Flag the hero to take aggro from the Avicara, allowing you to pass to the cave.
  • Maintain Mantra of Resolve Mantra of Resolve to prevent interrupts, refresh whenever you're about to hit maximum energy and don't plan on casting any skill in the next few seconds.

Note: all these spots can be done in Hard Mode unless stated outherwise (marked with NM in the title)

Counters

  • Enchantment removal can be deadly if it hits Protective Spirit and/or Shield of Absorption. Because Necromancers and Mesmers have so many skills to do this, avoid them.
  • Major health degeneration will also kill you. Watchful Spirit will counter minor health degeneration, but even that inflicted by Bleeding or Faintheartedness can overwhelm it. Again, avoid places with Necromancers or Mesmers. (Note that minor health degeneration over Watchful Spirit may not necessarily be deadly as you will heal yourself every time you cast a spell on yourself due to the healing bonus from the Divine Favor attribute.)
  • If Shield of Absorption is interrupted, you could be in trouble. You will have to last ten seconds on the health regeneration from Watchful Spirit and the healing boost from casting Protective Spirit on yourself - although Protective Spirit has a five second recharge. As a last resort, you may remove the maintained enchantment, Watchful Spirit, which heals you for 160 HP when it ends.

Notes

  • Like all invincimonk builds, this build will be easier with practice.
  • While this build will work if you are reduced to 1 hp (only when you won't encounter any creatures with a degeneration ability which will severely limit farming opportunities) it will require very quick reflexes to maintain constant coverage from Shield of Absorption.
  • Consider removing the healing prayer piece of armor if you die.
  • Try not to cast Protective Spirit and Shield of Absorption at about the same time; try to parse them so there is a one second lag between the two so as to phase out the healing from Divine Favor. If you are bringing Zealot's Fire, wait at least three seconds between casting the two so as to not cause enemies to scatter.
  • This build will not make ranged monsters run from you, but melee monsters in groups of 3 or more will run from you (unless they cannot be knocked down, such as Hydras).
