Can't login after move to wikia

Hello, I can't login to my username (thc) for some reason. I tried resetting password, but I don't know what e-mail address it was sent to. --Zaney 18:40, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Try PvX - Thc. That's what we had to do with people who's username was already taken by another wikia user. Adorably shocked mcmonkey sig.png(18:42, 20 February 2009 - )

How do I check if my username was already taken? Or how do you know that my name was taken? --Zaney 19:52, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I just looked under the user list in special pages, and Thc no longer existed. So, I looked for PVX-Thc and found it. Someone must have had your name already. The null edit resets whatever template you have on the build so the category tag gets fixed. So, if Build:W/Mo Frenzy Healsig Mending is moved to Build:Mo/W Frenzy Monk, it'll still display in the category under W until someone edits it or just does a null edit. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 16:34, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Spawning power Bugged amount

For the builds involving a ritualist with spawning power you seem to be at a fault, spawning power adds 4% duration to weapon spells per point. As an example at level 10 it will add 40% duration if you add this to a weapon spell that has 20 seconds base it will go to 28 not 24. I figure one of your coders has either set it to 2% or somthing.

Yes, it used to be 2%, but the rit buff update changed it to 4%. PvXcode hasn't updated yet, and this problem is noted here. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 23:27, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

you can see here when fast casting is high on signets the cast time goes onto negative numbers whereas with spells the number stays at 0.0. It really doesn't make a difference to anything but you know :P MrMetalFLower-...tlk 15:42, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

it also scales kinda awkwardly, like you can see here the longest casting signets have the lowest number (i.e. furthest into negative number) casting times... MrMetalFLower-...tlk 15:44, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Fast casting scales linearly for signets and follows an exponential model for spells. The behaviour is correct. Misery Cow.pngMisery Says Moo 15:48, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
It's just the whole idea that it's not possible to do something 10 seconds before you've cast it :P OK so it's not possible to get a high enough level for it either but it's just not mathematically sound :P MrMetalFLower-...tlk 15:51, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
If signets scale linearly and spells scale exponentially it is mathematically sound. With linear scaling you can get under 0, with exponential you cannot. It is expected behavior. Dragnmn talk cont 14:29, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

I meant that the green number ought to be changing depending on specified strength; instead it stays in general form (90...258...300) regardless. And is not green. Which leads me to believe that it just has to do with how the numbers were put in; the system is probably recognizing the numbers as a static part of the skill description, rather than a variable part. --Mafaraxas 09:54, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Ninjatek. The admins are aware that some of the skills are not perfect, but unfortunately we are not always able to do something about it. Our site having incorrect skill descriptions is a database issue, and one that only Wikia staff can fix. However, you can help us by pointing out skills that still have inaccurate skill descriptions, so we can relay them to the Wikia staff. Thanks. Karate KJ for sig.png Jesus 00:35, 3 March 2010
They actually have been updated, and the database is synced with the editcopies we have. You will need to perform at least a null edit on builds made before this update, as Wikia caches pages. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 00:41, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Lightbringer Signet

Lightbringer Signet

Lightbringer Signet is no longer an elite skill, so why is it still showing up in builds as an elite even after a new version of the file has been uploaded?

It works fine in the mini skill bar. The Black Leach 18:52, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

It's because mini skill bars use the image files hosted on PvX but for pvxbig skill bars the images are kept elsewhere (and we've got a problem with a number of skills, for example, still have the old version of

Linking and linebreaks

Infuse Health

Blood is Power

In the above example, we have two blue texts. Normally, one would think these would be hyperlinks to the appropriate skill pages on guildwiki/guild wars wiki. However, they're not (though clicking on them appears to do something with javascript anyway). It'd be cool if they would link to the official wiki.
There's also a random linebreak in the final appearance even though there isn't in the code. This makes little sense given that normal links don't break lines.

Is there a place where I can look at the code (even just a copy)? Obtained a copy, nvm. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 15:28, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

It looks like we've got Flash Enchantments added to the extension code (wasn't very hard) and also Mysticism and Spawning Power are updated. When we sync the DBs we'll also sync those changes. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 07:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

What about Fast Casting, or are we leaving that because it will be messy since it's split for pvp. Frostels 19:43, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
I was thinking we could at least do the 'doesn't affect non-Mesmer skills below 2 sec base cast' restriction, but I forgot to bring it up with Phen after finishing mysticism. For now we're leaving the PvE split alone on that because I don't want to crash PvX, which would certainly happen since it'd be so complicated. Also, the leadership effect on energy costs will be removed, since it didn't really reflect how the attribute works in game. Might re-add it with the functionality described above, but it's not a high priority. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 20:30, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
what's the fast casting one? ~ PheNaxKian talk 23:28, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

The PvP nerf to fast casting is now in as well. We've got code for the PvE version, but it would require splitting every mesmer spell. Since we don't have working template IDs for the PvP skills right now, I'd rather not force their use in PvP builds. Whenever Bumble gets on I'll send him the files to sync. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 01:02, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

I actually just had a thought about this. It'd perhaps be a more complicated, but it'd be a better solution than having PvP versions of all skills. Basically we'd have something similar to the Divine favour function (where it displays the bonus under the description), except it'd show the reduced recharge time (so say "the reduced recharge time of this skill is: XYZ" or something. ~ PheNaxKian talk 20:33, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
That would be good. Also, Bumble says he'll likely have the updated files up Tuesday. That doesn't include PvE fastcasting obviously, but if we finish the code before then we can ask to get it included. -- ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 03:49, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
i've gotten it written up. Ping me on MSN and I'll walk you through setting up the code =). ~ PheNaxKian talk 14:25, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

I think they uploaded the gwbbcode.inc file to the wrong directory; for some reason there's an outdated version of it outside the gwbbcode directory that isn't used and our update probably got uploaded over that one. I'm not seeing any of the changes. It should affect fast casting (limitation on non-mesmer skills and PvE recharge), mysticism (dervexpertise), spawning power (duration buff updated) and leadership (cost effect removed). Also, we'll need to work out how to get the enchantment icon to show up on flash enchantments at some point. -- ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 17:21, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Possible, not sure which directory it should be in (too lazy to find out by looking at the different files etc.). Flash enchantments now have the enchantment icon however (it was an easy fix once I knew how it was done >.> (helps if you look at the right file or pay more attention =/)). The other stuff we'll have to wait and see how well it works. All being well though there shouldn't be any problems. ~ PheNaxKian talk 19:45, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, there's two subdirectories in the PvX extension, and it's supposed to go in the 'gwbbcode' subdirectory (because that's the one we edited that had the current functionality of pvxbig). The one in the main directory is a really old version (its FC doesn't affect signets, among other things). The other subdirectory is for the rating system. -- ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 21:21, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Ah. Just to point out, the "rate" folder just holds the images used by the rating extension, not the rating extension itself. ~ PheNaxKian talk 22:35, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Added Zealous Renewal. Zyke 09:25, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Aura Slicer is not a scythe attack; it's a melee attack. Needs to be changed. —ǥrɩɳsɧƴɖɩđđɭɘş Grinshpon blinky cake.gif 03:39, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Ursan Blessing is Elite Form not Elite Skill. Could probably correct that right? -- Chieftain Alex Sig.jpg Chieftain Alex 12:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Aura Slicer already fixed in the editcopy (and mentioned above). Got the norn skills too. -- ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 13:04, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
This sync is overdue. =P Tool 311 21:23, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
I've e-mailed Bumble asking for a sync of the skill DB, as well as the extension files again (as they still haven't been done from what I can tell). ~ PheNaxKian talk 00:18, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Missing Mantra of Signets (PvP) - also the pve version is showing the pvp description (i.e. doesn't have +3 for each signet). -- Chieftain Alex Sig.jpg Chieftain Alex 13:09, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Incorrect Pictures

Most notably, Lightbringer Signet and Whirlwind Attack use incorrect icons. PvP skills generally are missing pictures. ToraenTheJanitorToraenSig2.png 14:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Fixed! ~ PheNaxKian talk 16:37, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

PvP Icons

Many of the hover over sections for PvP version of skills (such as on this page: Build:Rt/any HA SC Weapon Ritualist) have crosses where the icons should be, but the images exist on the wiki e.g. Death Pact Signet (PvP).jpg. Is it possible to correct this? -- Chieftain Alex Sig.jpg Chieftain Alex 08:39, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

PvXbig does not use the images uploaded to the wiki. It uses a set of images uploaded to the server with the extension. I've already prepared all the skill icons that need to be uploaded. -- Toraen talk 12:58, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
When is this going to happen? Dzjudz sig.png talk 18:26, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
When we can sort things out. There's problems when we attempt to do just about anything on the dev server so we're waiting on some things. ~ PheNaxKian talk 19:11, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

For some reason,

 • Wild Strike (PvP) Wild Strike (PvP)

, is lacking an icon. Vincent Evan [Air Henchman] Vincels.jpg 17:34, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

that's because it's a local file. Someone needs to upload it to the wiki! ~ PheNaxKian talk 17:47, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Ah ha. As does, Psychic Instability, and Fall Back. Let me see what I can do. Vincent Evan [Air Henchman] Vincels.jpg 18:01, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Well, I followed the red link and tried to upload a 25x25px icon of Fall Back, but it has yet to change. It's beyond my realm of wiki understanding. I'm not going any further in creating a mess. Vincent Evan [Air Henchman] Vincels.jpg 18:22, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Disregard this. I understand now. Vincent Evan [Air Henchman] Vincels.jpg 18:24, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

gww:Skill in <pvxbig>

If you put a gww:Skill link in <pvxbig>, it will show as such, but if you put Skill it will show Skill. For example:

gww:Death's Charge Death's Charge

Zyke 02:44, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

It seems the wiki will automatically change gww:Death's Charge to Death's Charge outside of <pvxbig> but not inside it.. Zyke 02:50, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
yeh....I'm not seeing an issue here....care to elaborate? ~ PheNaxKian talk 15:02, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Why do you want to link to gww in pvxbig in the first place? most of the time all you will have is:

Death's Charge Death's Charge

And in that you have a link to the skill (the picture). Frostels 15:13, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

It just annoys me that gww:Death's Charge doesn't change to Death's Charge within <pvxbig>[. Zyke 23:04, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Because gww pages are updated faster and contain more information than gwpvx popups.--War Pig5 20:58, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
new comments at the bottom, the only exception is if you're replying to a specific post, and even then, at the bottom of that "thread".
Just to point out that some skill name in <pvxbig> (i.e. a standard skill bar) actually does link to GWW. Zyke was referring to the in-line pop ups (where you have the skill name and hover over and get a pop up). I'll comment on this matter again, as i have since looked into it, and it's not going to happen any time soon (if at all). The codes over my head (and hell even the stuff I thought wasn't is breaking for some reason!) ~ PheNaxKian talk 23:03, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Builds&ipods (mb smartphones aswell)

when I look at pvx on my iPod, a build isn't put in a gray box like normal. Instead the skills are all one beneath the other, with the template code hanging below them. Falrach 21:48, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

It's fine on my smartphone (has Android OS). This will probably never be dealt with though, since we can only make minor changes to PvXcode at best. -- Toraen talk 21:53, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Also I'm not going to )re-)write the extension or the CSS to make the site compatible with mobile devices. Mind you I vaguely remember someone posting somewhere (possibly IRC) that they were working on a mobile app of sorts. Though I don't know what came of that. ~ PheNaxKian talk 00:15, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, it worked up to like a week ago Falrach 05:50, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
ah....chances are then that's a mediawiki thing (the software the site runs on). We were upgraded to the latest version (1.17 off the top of my head, but i'll check in a second). ~ PheNaxKian talk 12:40, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
yeah, version 1.17.0. So it was either that or the "Curse Extenstions v1.0" that was added as well (neither of which we can do anything about). I'll talk to the guys from curse and find out what exactly their extension does, because I believe it alters CSS ~ PheNaxKian talk 12:42, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Wastrel's Collpase Icon

See this image for pictorial: the downwards hex arrow still displays in the template icon - the hover over image and the image when shown in skill pvxicon are fine. Chieftain Alex 17:59, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

It's type abbreviation in the database was still set to "he" for hex instead of "sk" for skill. I hate this extension sometimes all the time. -- Toraen confer 01:04, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Save Yourselves (Luxon/Kurzick)

Template code
 save

Would it be possible to put the Kurzick/Luxon part on a third line (much like Ebon Battle Standard of Honor uses). Currently it hangs over the edge of skillbars and defaults to hiding behind other skill texts Chieftain Alex 12:43, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

It already does for me. Browser? Mine's firefox. -- Toraen confer 13:43, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Meh ofc its internet explorer 9 related -_- File:User Chieftain Alex Skill title hang internet explorer gaffe.jpg Chieftain Alex 13:48, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
I can try to find the code for generating the skillbar and see if there's something I can do, but don't hold your breath. I can't even test changes before they're pushed live. -- Toraen confer 13:52, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Additional Bonuses

When bonuses beyond headgear and a primary profession's runes are put into the attributes of a build (12+1+1+2 for say, the current flux) the template code is usually not generated. -- Toraen confer 19:28, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

well given that's it's outside the span of normal mechanics it's not designed to allow that. ~ PheNaxKian talk 19:42, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
I've looked at the code and it specifically forbids bonuses greater than 4 (or 3 when the headpiece has already been used) and "assigns runes" (I can't tell if this still has any effect on anything). It looks like a now pointless 'feature' left in because no one wanted to touch it. The amount of bonuses should be irrelevant to generating the template code anyway, since it splits the base and bonus values. Guess we're not changing it though since that would involve gutting a rather large block of code. -- Toraen confer 02:09, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Internet Explorer 10

Hilariously, the hover text for PvX code doesn't work in Internet Explorer 10. If I set browser compatibility mode to IE9, then it starts working >_> - Chieftain Alex 20:18, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

its apparently an issue with IE10, not to do with css or js changes. Other sites are experiencing problems with hover-text/popups too. - Chieftain Alex 12:02, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
lolIE10. Don't know if they've fixed this or not yet, but either way this doesn't seem to be our issue. -- Toraen confer 20:03, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
(yeah I'm weird because I downloaded an IE11 preview) - it works again in internet explorer 11. - Chieftain Alex 22:32, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
