Welcome

This is my talk page. Please feel free to leave me a message about anything! DjTesla 06:01, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Welcome Tesla. Just a quick thinking, you like physics? Shadow 10:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for posting on my talk page. I actually love the history behind the name, which is why I started using it when I went into broadcasting. Well, thats at least one of the main reasons I kept using it. ^_^ Thank you again for stopping by! DjTesla 11:23, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Out of interest were the comments on DarkSpirit & Excluded's talk page a mistake? Rawr 14:12, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

I was asking active users as well. Not just admins. This way I get proper feedback from the community involved in the wiki and the growth around the wiki. I hope that makes sense. DjTesla 14:17, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
(my feedback) Is this legit? The buildspace is too black and white when it comes to team setups; either a 7 hero team or Speedclear team. Teams like you find in PvP for GvG/HA would be nice in the PvE section, too. ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 14:22, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Your feedback is legit and welcomed. Can you give me an example of what you are talking about please? So I can see what you are saying you'd like changed. ^^ Thanks! DjTesla 14:31, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
There should be an accepted section in the PvE buildspace for balanced and gimmick human teams (with options for heroes when wanted). The general userbase ignore the fact that alot of players wish to party together for the daily Zaishen Quests, vanquishes and a fair amount of guilds who do dungeon runs. Assuming everyone uses heroes is a bad way to go, and same goes for speedclearing only. These are two extremes with nothing in the middle. Ponder that at your leisure. ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 14:35, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Make them, then. That's exactly the kind of problem normal users are supposed to fix on a wiki :P Rawr 14:33, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
It's been requested before, nothing gets done! I think Cuilan suggested it before. ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 14:35, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Ok so let me see if I understand this correctly. You want to add "Balance" and "gimmick" team or team compositions for PvE runs. You also want to add hero builds for PvE runs, in case a person doesnt wish to go with pugs or guildies, is this correct? I am trying to make sure I understand. I mean I play Guild wars but I am struggling to understand exactly what you are asking for. Please let me know. Thanks. DjTesla 14:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

The balance/gimmick was an example of something for a larger "general PvE" team build. At the moment it is assumed people don't play with eachother, which is downright wrong. The option on each build for heroes incase a player can't run x build or lacks players at that particular time. ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 14:48, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
People play together, but you'll have a hell of a time getting a pug or guildy group to run with any kind of coordination. team builds with 4+ set player professions are useless because if someone's going to do a mission, vanq, etc. they're going to want to do it on a specific character, whether it be a ranger, para, rit, or necro. Those pugs that form for zmissions and stuff sure as hell aren't going to be running a PvX team build. People don't even like profession-specific HERO team builds, so how do you think they are going to respond to all-player teams with all specific professions? --Jai. - 14:54, October 28 2011 (UTC)
To be fair anything which requires a certain teambuild is documented. Anywhere else in pve, should you actually manage to get the people to do it instead of playing with heroes which is rare enough anyway, does not need a specific build as with players you should roll through the area easily regardless of teambuild - you just take a bunch of working bars mashed together. I really don't see the point, it would never, ever get used or referred to so kinda wasting server space. Rawr 15:00, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok guys. This is something that any of you can fix. Minion if you think it would be useful then make a page with those builds on it and attach it to the bottom of the other build as "Related" and then the link to it - with a short description of it. However the feedback I was really asking for is something that the normal community cant handle or do themselves. So if you guys have feedback or ideas for that sort of thing, then please let me know. Thanks DjTesla 15:01, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
There seems to be a general mentality of active users here that if it's not a "A" or "B" build, then they need to fight it tooth and nail. So, even if one were to create such a "related" build(albeit team/hero/whatever, they will thrash it relentlessly.--E.Snow 15:10, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Well there are many different users and many different builds. As for hate on builds, haters are always going to hate. If things like vandalism were to occur, we could protect the page from further edits. However I do not see why one build is better than the other. There has never been "A" or "B" build for anything in guild wars. Take into account the constant meta changes in GvG over the years or even in HA. These sort of builds change. Same can be said for PvE. I truly believe people should be more open. -.- DjTesla 15:16, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. If the feedback you were after was site functionality, then wouldn't it be better to ask a guild wars player who visits the site but doesn't contribute? What would they like to see for ease of use, etc.? ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 15:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

(EC) @Minion: I'd recommend making a page in your user space detailing what the section would include and what the standards of such a section should be. If there's something more concrete to talk about, more headway could be made. I'm leaning towards the position that it'd be unnecessary (as per Rawr and Jai) but I'd like a better explanation of what you want. @DjTesla: I can't think of anything that isn't coding problems like those listed here at the moment. Since Phenaxkian has access to the test server he's able to work on these but he seems rather busy lately and hasn't made much headway on the PvP skills issue. -- Toraen talk 15:17, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Toraen that is a brilliant idea! So ya, Minion do as Toraen suggested. Then you can talk with them to see what they think is best suited for the wiki and what isn't. With that, thank you so much for letting me know Toraen. If there are any ideas or feedback for the wiki in the near or even far future, please let me know. I'll be happy to see what can be done. Thanks again! DjTesla 15:20, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
@Minion ~ No it wouldn't be easier that way. I want to ask the active members who help maintain and build the wiki if there was something they thought was missing or was needed or if there was any over all feedback. What you brought to my attention was builds, which can be made and setup by any player. This is not what I was asking for. I hope you understand that there is a difference. Also, please post at the bottom. It is very hard to find where you posted, unless I go to my history and look for the changes there. Thanks! DjTesla 15:30, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, ma'am. I asked because the active members of the site will now be accustomed to the site layout and would not necessarily easily identify any decent changes. Just a thought! ~ӍiñonCrysig.jpg 17:08, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Autowikibrowser

I was attempting to set this up for some of the more tedious work on the wiki, and I noticed that it gets an error when it attempts to connect (Preferences -> Site -> Custom: www.gwpvx.com). Is it possible to set things up so AWB can recognize the wiki (or maybe I'm just doing something wrong)? You might not be the correct person to talk about this with, but I'd be happy if you could direct me at who to ask if that's the case. -- Toraen talk 20:04, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

I will see if something can be done about that, however no promises. Thanks for letting me know! DjTesla 21:13, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll also talk to some Guildwiki admins about it as well, since they were planning some mass automated tasks to clean up userspace; they may know some more about getting it working or even alternatives to AWB. -- Toraen talk 21:16, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
K! If you figure anything out, please let me know. :) DjTesla 02:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Bit late on this, but AWB does successfully connect to Guildwiki (I obviously cannot edit Guildwiki with AWB though since I am not an admin/bot there). It still doesn't work for PvX, and the following error is given:

Error connecting to wiki

Has Curse made any headway on this? -- Toraen talk 00:43, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Curse footer

It's missing all the links that used to be there for me =x. Also is the footer what Mediawiki is referring to as the "Curse Extension"? ~ PheNaxKian talk 23:14, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Ok. I will make a note of that and pass the info along. Thanks for letting me know! DjTesla 02:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Holyshit.

Blade radio DJ? Remember me? I'm the bitch of most of your fans.-- VanguardLogo75px.pnganguard 23:34, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Vanguard. Yes I remember you. Though I dont know why you would call yourself that. How are you Vanguard? DjTesla 02:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
I was under the impression I was the most annoying Blade Radio fan. A badge I proudly wore. I'm well enough, just recently got back into GW.-- VanguardLogo75px.pnganguard 02:25, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Right now

you're one of the most casual and active curse-admin, I like that :D Shadow 07:25, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Well I am glad that I can do my bit to assist the community and let them know that we care about the quality of our service. ^_^ DjTesla 08:08, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
^^ Shadow 08:11, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Well thank you again! If you have any other comments, feed back or suggestions, please just let me know. DjTesla 09:35, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

A

belated welcome to the wiki.--Relyk 09:24, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much! DjTesla 09:35, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

gw

I think I was in a guild with you at some point in history. Some GvG team? If this is the Tesla I'm thinking (the female DJ), that is. Either way, hey there, welcome, etc. Danny 20:36, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

That is very possible Danny. I am Dj Tesla from Guild Wars. I was a ZoS officer for the longest time, till I stepped down to be a normal member and I did often times go guest for other GvG teams. ^^ So you probably do know me from some where. What guild were/are you in? DjTesla 22:52, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure if I was ever in ZoS, but it's a possibility. You very well may have been guesting for whatever guild I was in. Can't remember the name for the life of me, though. Whenever we didn't run gimmicks, I tended to run a Mesmer flagger with IoP, if that happens to ring any bells. Regardless, I haven't played in about 2 years now, so it's practically ancient history. Haha. Danny 16:30, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Greetings Tesla

and thank you for taking an interest in our humble community. I remember you vaguely from my glory days as part of the great conglomerate on GWW. There is one issue that has always existed on PvXWiki regardless of our host, even when it was privately organised by our great founding father, GCardinal. Technical issues usually go on unresolved for months or years, not because we are incapable of recognising the nature of problems or finding fixes for them, as Toraen, Phenaxkian and further in the past HHHippo are usually pretty good at acting the part of code monkeys, but rather a lack of access. There is in fact a list of problems that administrators cannot fix without server access here. One thing I would love to see is either the existence of an arrangement whereby the more talented and trusted members of our community are able to fix these problems themselves or some attention from the good people at Curse, perhaps someone who checks this noticeboard now and again. New issues are unlikely to crop up often, but the sacrifice issue for example has existed since 2010.

Outside of that I think people have been pretty happy with the switch to Curse, but maybe it is time for people to start thinking whether or not a PvX2 makes sense as more details about GW2 slowly emerge. A new misery 11:58, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will see what we can do. Maybe if a problem comes up, I will just give you guys my email address so you can email me and we can see what can be done about it as fast as possible. Thanks again! DjTesla 12:35, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Been a couple of weeks and I haven't heard anything further or noticed any activity on the Curse noticeboard. Any news? A new misery 14:04, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Bump. A new misery 17:25, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
My apologies. We are currently looking into if a PvX2 is worth working into or not. Please be patient. ^_^ DjTesla 20:39, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Here's the big question in regards to a PvX2: Would it be us (or rather the PvX2 community) or Curse that developed whatever enables us to have skill bars? (there's nothing to say it has to be wiki based, but it has to be made) ~ PheNaxKian talk 21:04, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

In regards to skill bars, what do you mean? Can you give me an example? DjTesla 21:27, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Archive:A/D GG Pressure. All the skill bar and hover over stuff on said skill bar is a custom mediawiki extension, developed by the site's founder (based of gwbbcode). ~ PheNaxKian talk 21:45, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind. Ok? So if we do decide upon a PvX for Gw2, we will then decide about the skill bar situation. As soon as I know, I'll let you guys know on my talk page. ^_^ DjTesla 22:58, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. Any news on getting someone with server access to occasionally check in on the PvXwiki:Curse noticeboard, or should we just assume those issues will never be solved? A new misery 10:30, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Misery, I have Repo access. Toraen and I have been working to resolve issues but it's slow going due to neither of us knowing PHP, and having to bother one of the staff members to push the changes to the dev server, me having to check it, and if it all works, push live. ~ PheNaxKian talk 12:36, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. I wasn't aware that solution had been pushed through, so it's just you guys being slow buggers now. A new misery 13:03, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
Mostly yeah, but it's also a case of the fixes aren't as easy as we first thought =x. There was an attempt to fix PvP skills....but that didn't work for who knows what reason. ~ PheNaxKian talk 15:57, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

jobs n such

I hear Curse is hiring a .NET lead. Slightly confusing since Mediawiki is PHP. Any knowledge about this? Danny 01:59, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

disregard. i took a look at their other sites and the reason was immediately obvious. i'd always assumed curse was like wikia. Danny 02:00, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Haha! Thanks for the message but I would like to say that we are very different then wikia and in all the right ways. :) If you have more questions, please just let me know! Thanks! DjTesla 02:17, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Haha yeah! Seriously though, fuck wikia. You guys are gold. rąʂKƴɖooƿɭɘş 18:02, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
