Somehow you slipped by everyone and that just won't do, so hello and welcome to our wiki! I don't know how busy Phenaxkian has been with our buildup of back-end issues but I'm glad to have another talk page to spam about it. In particular I'd love to get Autowikibrowser to actually work on this wiki and see what can be done about Asirra. -- Toraen confer 02:22, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

The AutoWikiBrowser issue appears to be the same issue breaking watchlist RSS (this issue will also break any MediaWiki API function returning XML). That would also be why I didn't notice this message until now. I rely a bit too heavily on RSS to keep track of wiki stuff. Oops. >.>
I accidentally did this once on a test wiki and have an idea what the issue would be, but I can't presently try to verify it. It's actually easy to do when coding extensions and not easily noticed because despite all the things it breaks aren't used by most users and typically aren't tested because the author wouldn't think it would be affected by the extension at all. The initial entry point file of one of the extensions installed here probably has some blank lines or other whitespace after the ?> at the end. It could also be before the <?php at the beginning of the file. What happens is that whitespace ends up getting inserted before any XML returned by the API, and XML parsers are not forgiving of that particular error, despite how minor it is. Asking for the author of your custom extensions to check for this in all PHP code files would be my first suggestion, though I intend to so myself when I have access. Eyes 09:51, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
I'll have a look at it, as I have copies of some of the custom extension files. However, the author of our custom extension left the wiki long ago so I won't be able to troubleshoot much further. I suspect that I don't have the entry point file though (as I only have the extension files necessary for skill and feature updates). Phenaxkian may have all the extension files available to him though. -- Toraen confer 16:32, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

User creation lockdown

You said this should still be in place, but I noticed the re-emergence of User:HigherMinion. Last I knew his old account (User:Minion) was banned and I see no earlier contributions from the new account. Has he created a new account or have I misunderstood the situation? A new misery 15:20, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

No account was created, I signed in with my Curse account. Also, that ban was so long ago, I've forgotten about it. ~ӍiñonMinion Watching Jew.jpeg 15:27, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
contris @Special:Contributions/Minion / Special:Contributions/Excluded don't exist. - Chieftain Alex 16:04, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Minion is so fat that he had to eat his own contribs *0* They.jpg 17:49, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
I was told the lockdown would still be in place. I'm investigating and will get back to you as soon as I have an answer. OOeyes (talk) 21:22, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
It appears there was some kind of communication breakdown leading to a misunderstanding of what lockdown terms should remain in place. As a temporary measure, I've changed the lockdown terms so that at least one edit in the history is now required to edit now. Next week, we'll be investigating the possibility of denying autoconfirmed status to new accounts and not merging ones to reestablish the original terms of the lockdown. I apologize for this error. OOeyes (talk) 22:21, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thank you. It is unlikely to be a major problem. I don't know how many permanently banned users will have already made Curse accounts before the merge, but it is unlikely to be many and anyone else is unlikely to cause problems. As long as we have the option of permanently banning anyone without the possibility of them creating a new account, we should be fine anyway. A new misery 11:25, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Ban cuilan for publicly challenging me. They.jpg 04:27, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm not sure what these changes mean for the wiki side of the settings table, but if they're unchanged it should be possible to alter localsettings.php to alter the requirements of becoming auto confirmed. ~ PheNaxKian talk 20:35, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I talked a little with the tech team about this, and the major difficulty here is that the Gamepedia platform has turned autoconfirmed into the new emailconfirmed, so I'm not seeing much hope in the default groups. And a custom group will only help if we can 1. assign it to everyone who has already merged their account here, and 2. automatically assign it to those who merge whose accounts existed before the lockdown. Otherwise, I think we'll be stuck basing it having made an edit. The good news is that I'm told banned accounts were deleted as part of the merge, so their edit counts are now 0. OOeyes (talk) 21:39, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I can't imagine it ever actually being an issue on this particular wiki, but isn't it a little dangerous legally to delete banned accounts? You are then removing attribution, which unless I am mistaken is required by most wiki licenses. I can see why you did it, but it reeks of a sledgehammer approach. A new misery 21:52, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
As the attribution is really with the page revisions, I actually believe this remains intact, as the revision table stores both a user id and an IP or username, so a form of attribution remains. It's just the user id becomes meaningless, but it already was for anons. The only thing I can see being lost is real names in preferences, but the software barely used that anyway. OOeyes (talk) 22:39, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
It seems a bit odd that Special:Log/newusers for the deleted/banned accounts reverts to showing the examining user's IP, shouldn't it default to something along the lines of "deleted user" - Chieftain Alex 22:44, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I only know that Torean has already reported the same issue. I don't currently what the plans are for dealing with it, or if they've even gotten that far. OOeyes (talk) 22:49, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Issue with Curse Footer

Hey OOeyes, overall I like the look of the banner and footer (they're unobtrusive for the most part), however there's an issue with the footer. Currently I'm logged in (obviously), it says "Welcome, Phenaxkian!" in the top right etc. However down in the footer I see a giant "Not a Member? Get a free account! <Sign up button>", just a thought.

Also (and this is just a nitpick on my part) the "Featured sites" part has the two featured sites stacked (i.e. one on top of the other) instead of side by side (which there appears to be room for looking at the 4 menus below them). ~ PheNaxKian talk 20:57, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

You represent a company that completely fucked this site and I no longer have the ability to rate builds. How do you live with yourself knowing you ruined my ability to harass and antagonize innocent people? They.jpg 12:08, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that :) They.jpg 08:17, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Not sure if you are still around...

but did my user name get changed at some point? It used to be "MiseryFuck" and now it is "MiseryF". I don't remember doing it myself and don't see it in the logs. I was unable to log in for a while and thought I had changed my password and forgotten. I was worried I would never recover the account because from what I remembered, my email was buggy and couldn't be confirmed. It all worked in the end and I then found out that my user name was not what I expected. Any idea what went on here? A new misery 17:42, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Gamepedia uses your central Curse account name, and it is common practice for names with profanity to be changed if someone reported it. This wouldn't show up in the wiki logs due to the change happening in the central system. This is very likely what happened. I suggest logging on to http://www.curse.com to see if any messages were left for you there, and if all else fails, you could submit a support ticket here. OOeyes (talk) 20:23, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
There is no message there. Complaints about random censorship aside, this seems like a pretty serious issue. Changing a login name without notification could easily lose a member forever if they don't realise what happened. You might want to review your policies. I don't have time right now, but I will submit a ticket at a later date. A new misery 16:41, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

action=rate

Just because I get the feeling that PvXwiki:Curse noticeboard#action=rate hasn't been seen or is being ignored, i was wondering if you could put someone on it. (Basically the images providing the bar chart are still pointing at the old wikia-relative locations, but they're in the inline css + so can't be edited on this side).

Roughly speaking,

background-image:url(/PvX/Rate/r1.jpg)

needs to be replaced with

background-image:url(http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/gwpvx.gamepedia.com/a/a0/Rating_bar_r1.jpg);

(repeat for all 6 images) - Chieftain Alex 11:13, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Ah, this was probably lost in the shuffle when the other issues were being tackled. I'll send a reminder up after the weekend. OOeyes (talk) 11:43, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
equally, just mail me the source code for PvXrate and I'll fix it + send back the corrections. - Chieftain Alex 20:12, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Letting registered Curse accounts in

My attempts to modify the abuse filter to allow this while still disallowing anon editing have all failed. It doesn't seem to have the variables necessary to make such a filter (autoconfirmed is apparently only given out once the curse account has successfully created the wiki account), so I was wondering if there's a mediawiki setting that can be changed to just disallow anonymous editing so I could turn off the filter. -- Toraenwiki 18:55, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

All editing rights have been removed from the anonymous group. This should achieve what you're looking for. OOeyes (talk) 05:05, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! -- Toraenwiki 07:20, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

User:Cyber Smoke email confimation

He brought up on my talk page that he is unable to confirm his email address on the wiki, which prevents him from using the rating system. Could you look into this please? -- Toraenwiki 03:01, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Recent (and old) PvXbig issues

Hey, I recently tried submitting a ticket for some recent image issues with the PvXbig extension but the responder ended up just posting back to my user profile comments as if I was able to do something about it (they didn't seem to realize that they posted to the same user who requested the ticket). Request ID is 24233 (and they've closed it). I don't know if you're still around here anymore, but if you could get this ticket escalated appropriately I'd really appreciate it. The mouseover issue also still exists (they don't show up at all) and given that was a major feature of the extension I'd like to at least see that return (there's a bunch of other issues on the curse noticeboard, but the mouseover thing is really the most important of the lot). Toraen (talk) 16:14, 13 March 2018 (UTC)

Oh, crap. That's probably my fault. I got asked about it out of the blue and explained I didn't maintain the extensions. Should've figured it came up from you. Apologies about that.
I can file a ticket with our wiki devs, but afaik, they don't look at new tickets until Monday. I'll poke around today and see if I can't get it moving a little faster. OOeyes (talk) 07:54, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
I wasn't able to get anything happening this week, but they should be working on it sometime next week. OOeyes (talk) 19:25, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
Any word on the progress of this? Toraen (talk) 01:08, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm told it's on their list for this week now. OOeyes (talk) 18:47, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Dev has closed the ticket. Presumably fixes should have gone out, so please verify and let me know if I'll need to send another ticket. OOeyes (talk) 19:28, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
It looks like PvXbig is just about fixed. The majority of extension images and the mouseovers are back. The only thing missing that I've seen so far is the cast time icon in the mouseovers. Toraen (talk) 10:27, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Also the adrenaline cost icon is missing from mouseovers. Toraen (talk) 11:14, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

I need your halp

Or rather, another user does. Toraen (talk) 11:09, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

UserProfile:User-100199553

This user can't seem to properly reclaim their account, and the steps on the help page seem to reference a "My Account" section that doesn't exist on PvXwiki or Twitch.tv. Changing the username or display name through twitch preferences also did not work for them. The deleted account is UserProfile:@DeletedUser606071 (username was previously Touchofpinkie). -Toraen (talk) 18:47, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

I'm afraid account issues like this are out of my purview. I believe Touchofpinkie can get this resolved more quickly directly through Gamepedia support. I apologize for the inconvenience. OOeyes (talk) 01:08, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
The pointer was enough, Touchofpinkie has confirmed they have their account back in working order. Thanks! -Toraen (talk) 21:45, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
